PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are a type of non-surgical cosmetic treatment used for skin lifting and tightening. These threads are made of a bio-compatible synthetic material (polydioxanone), which is absorb-able and has been used in various medical applications, including surgery sutures.
Smooth Threads:
Smooth threads stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. They are often used for fine lines and rejuvenation. They can be used on the face and neck. Results are seen three months after the procedure and last 2 years or more
Lifting Threads:
Lifting threads provide immediately noticeable lifting effects and last 2 years or more. They are inserted in a way that lifts and tightens sagging skin and can be used on the face and neck.
Before Treatment:
1. Consult with Dr. Rowe to discuss your goals, medical history, and expectations.
You may need to avoid blood thinners, blood-thinning medications, herbal supplements, or alcohol before the procedure. Consult the prescribing physician before discontinuing any prescription medications.
Ensure your skin is clean and free from makeup on the day of the procedure.
After Treatment:
Apply ice packs to reduce swelling and discomfort.
Refrain from vigorous physical activities and facial expressions that may strain the treated area. Exercise more strenuous than a brisk walk should be avoided for 2 weeks after the procedure. Any activity that raises your blood pressure will slow collagen production.
Use mild skincare products and avoid harsh chemicals on the treated area.
Attend follow-up appointments as recommended to monitor progress.
Potential Side Effects:
Swelling, bruising, and redness at the insertion points are common but usually temporary.
Minor discomfort or pain may occur but can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers as advised.
